First–tier Tribunal (Care Standards)

We consider appeals against a decision to restrict or bar an individual from working with children or vulnerable adults and decisions to cancel, vary or refuse registration of certain health, childcare and social care provision.

You can appeal to us if you:

* Please note that the arrangements for barring an individual from working with children or vulnerable adults will be changing. A new body – the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA), which was established in January 2008, will be taking over such decisions from the respective Secretary of State during the latter half of 2008. In addition, the appeal arrangements against a decision of the ISA will be different from the arrangements against a decision of the Secretary of State.

All appeals against a decision of the ISA will be considered by the Administrative Appeals Chamber of the Upper Tribunal. You can download the appropriate appeal form and guidance on appealing to the Upper Tribunal from the Tribunals Service web site.
